WE REMEMBER CHRISTOPHER LEE BURFORD

I am honored to be a part of his project again. Please be sure to visit Project 2,996 to read about so many others that lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

CHRISTOPHER LEE BURFORD

Christopher Lee Burford, 23, from Hubert, North Caroline, a Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy died September 11, 2001 when a hijacked plan crashed into the Pentagon.

The Washington Posts says: (Burford) joined the Navy after finishing high school. “The 23-year-old started his career at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill.

He then moved to the Fleet Training Center in Norfolk for a three-month stint before joining the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Telecommunications Center at the Pentagon in June 2000. Burford was an electronics technician.”

Looking through the information on Christopher I was not able to find a lot of details about him. What I did find was tribute after tribute to him in honor of his service to our country and the kind of man, friend and family member the was. I will leave the bulk of his tribute to those that knew, loved and honor him.

Thank you for your service Christopher and I pray that you rest in peace.

Thank you Burford family for Chris. I was in boot camp and "A" school with him and he was the finest of friends. A good man and a great sailor. God Bless You.

To the Burford family. I served with Christopher in “A” School, not only was he hard working and smart, but he always brought a smile to my face with his constant antics. His loss touched me profoundly... and I only knew him for a short amount of time. His memory lives on, not only with you and his friends at home, but also with his military family that had the privilege to serve with him. God Bless.
